Milk Gravy

This milk gravy recipe is easy to make and you can have ready to pour over chicken if you are not making a regular brown gravy for it.

Milk Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black or white pepper
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth, cold
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh chopped dill
  • (Makes just over 1 cup, double if you have a larger group you need the gravy for)

Directions

  1. Use a small saucepan to make the milk gravy.
  2. Melt the butter over low heat and add the milk, salt and pepper and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  3. In a measuring cup, stir the cornstarch into the chicken broth to make a slurry.
  4. When the milk is simmering, whisk in the cornstarch mixture. It will thicken quickly. Bring to a boil, stirring the whole time then shut off and remove from the burner.
  5. Stir in the dill.
  6. Do a taste test and season as necessary.
